Q. What is a Hand Therapist?

A. A Hand Therapist is a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist that has undergone additional training in assessment and treatment of the hand and upper limb.

Q. do i need a referral to see you?

A. No you do not need a referral. We can assess you and process your ACC claim.

 

Q. What will the session involve?

A. This depends on your injury / condition. Your Hand Therapist will assess you and may provide you with exercises or a splint. Your rehabilitation plan will be tailored to ensure we are working together to achieve your individual goals.

 

Q. What should I bring to my appointment?

A. Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • A copy of your referral (if you have one)

  • Your hospital discharge summary or operation notes

  • Any medical reports you have

  • Your ACC number

  • Private Health Insurance details

You have to right to bring an advocate or support person to your appointment.

 

Q. How long will my appointment be?

A. Appointments are generally 30 minutes long. Some conditions require a longer appointment and if this is the case you will be informed at the beginning of your session.

Q. Is there a charge to see you?

A. There is no charge for ACC visits. If you are a private patient an Inital visit is $110 and follow up is $90.
